Back to Basics Home Inspections, LLC is a veteran-owned and operated residential inspection firm serving Southern Maine. We specialize in providing fact-based, real estate inspections for the modern home-buyer. By offering exclusive evening and weekend availability, we cater to working professionals who cannot attend traditional 9-to-5 inspections. Our mission is to strip away the emotional and cosmetic layers of a home to provide impartial, code-informed clarity for our clients.
Include exterior and interior inspection of accessible spaces: accessible external and internal foundation; siding, gutters, downspouts, soffits, eves, etc.; property grading, plants, trees and other natural growth; serviceability of a representative number of doors and windows; water flow (must have water service on); serviceability of pumping fixtures, accessible water supply, accessible drains and pipes; inspection of electrical panel, a representative number of outlets and switches (power must be on), and wire type identification. External inspection and cursory interior inspection of one detached structure is also included (full inspection of detached structures available as an add-on). Pricing is based on structure size and age, ranging from $350-$650 for houses up to 3500 sqft
Replacing any part of your septic system can be a costly experience, let us help give you peace of mind knowing what might be needed now or in the future.
Includes camera out from the house to the septic tank, and includes an inspection of the septic tank, the outlet pipe to the distribution box or leach field, and camera out to determine construction type and general condition.
Available as an add-on to a real estate inspection, or as a stand alone service.
(This service does not include pumping the tank, please let us know if you would like to try to schedule to have the tank pumped at the time of the inspection; pump out cost separate and due to pumping service)
Using a sewer camera, we run the camera out from inside the house at one of the clean outs (clean out must be present) and look for broke pipes, bowing or sagging, obstructions, root intrusion, as well identify pipe construction and general condition. Newer homes, or pipes that have been repaired are likely to be PVC; older homes could be anything from clay pipe, to cast iron, or PVC, or maybe there has been a repair and one section has been changed. Photo and/or video of the interior of the pipe will tell you want you need to know.
